William Dawson Group Lead GP

About me

William is a GenerationQ Fellow and Group Lead GP at OneMedicalGroup in Leeds.

He has worked as a GP at OneMedicalGroup – an independent primary care provider in Leeds – since 2014. In 2016 he was appointed Group Lead GP, accountable for providing clinical leadership across the group, and is now Chief Medical Officer.

William works with the Chief Executive and Executive Team to support the implementation of the commissioning strategy across the business, and is involved in the promotion of the group’s vision and values, and clinical model development. He leads on quality improvement and the group’s response to litigation and patient safety issues.

With the help of GenerationQ, William is planning to review the clinical and operational service modelling for sites within the group, to ensure a unified, holistic and patient-centred service that is in line with the group’s clinical strategy and long-term aims. As part of this, William will look to introduce a clinical and operational performance structure, and review the group’s appraisal process. The aim of this work is to promote quality across the group, and to drive the group forward in innovating care within a time of great change.

William is hoping GenerationQ will provide him with leadership skills to help achieve this: ‘I wish to become a more effective and better equipped leader and to lead quality improvement for the benefit of patients, staff and carers in today’s challenging environment. I want to develop formal leadership skills in order to become a more effective and self-aware leader, gaining further understanding of how to engage with others across a wider system’.
