Sarah Phillips

About me

Sarah is a GenerationQ Fellow and Medical Director at Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust.

She is the professional lead for all the Trust’s doctors and dentists, and, alongside the Chief Nurse, leads on quality for the Trust. In 2017 she co-authored the Trust’s quality strategy, which brought a focus onto quality improvement (QI) as an approach for significant continuous improvement and culture change in the organisation. She is the executive lead for the Trust-wide QI programme, as well as the programme to replace the electronic clinical record (EPR) system.

Prior to becoming Medical Director, Sarah was Clinical Chair at the Canterbury and Coastal Clinical Commissioning Group. She was previously a GP Partner at Newton Place Surgery in Faversham, where she remains a GP.

Sarah believes that improving her skills and knowledge around clinical leadership and QI through GenerationQ will have a significant impact on her ability to successfully deliver the EPR replacement project. She is also leading a programme of work to bring QI science and culture into the Trust.

'The overall success of this project will be heavily influenced by leadership capability.

'It is my ambition to develop my skills and knowledge further to influence others to become engaged and actively involved in the delivery of the overall aim. I am particularly interested in the human elements of QI and how these influence outcomes.

'Through GenerationQ, I will be able to use improved leadership performance and impact to influence the way improvement is approached within my organisation.'
