Dr Nicola Kemp GP and Director

About me

Nicola is a GenerationQ Fellow, and GP and Director, Direct Local Health (DLH) Watford and Three Rivers GP Federation.

Nicola has worked as a GP in Hertfordshire since 2003. Alongside her clinical role, she is also a Director of the Watford and Three Rivers GP Federation, known as Direct Local Health (DLH). DLH is a federation of 26 practices, comprising approximately 130 GPs and covering a patient population of around 211,000.

As part of her role, she also sits on the board for the wider Herts Valleys GP Federation, Herts One, chairs the Watford and Three Rivers Provider Collaborative Group, and represents the Herts One Federation within the Sustainability and Transformation Partnership (STP). She is also a GP Appraiser for NHS England (Midlands & East).

As a director of a GP federation, Nicola has an important role in helping to develop how health care is delivered in the locality, and she has a clear view of how she wants to use this role to deliver quality and improvement in service provision.

She hopes GenerationQ will help her with this: ‘I want to equip myself with the skills to lead effectively and to the best of my ability. I feel GenerationQ offers me the chance to gain those skills and tools, and with them, the confidence to lead well’.

Nicola will bring to the fellowship her substantial experience of being in a directly patient-facing role: ‘My direct experience really helps me to understand a patient’s needs from their health care and to keep the patient at the heart of any decisions I make.’
