Mike Jones Deputy Medical Director

About me

Mike is a GenerationQ Fellow and Deputy Medical Director at The Hurley Group.

Mike Jones has been a GP at Newham clinical commissioning group (CCG) since 2012. He is now the Local Medical Director at the Hurley Group, a GP partnership, where he leads clinical teams and policy development, and has responsibility for clinical governance and budget management.

Mike is also Primary Care QI Lead at UCLPartners, an academic health science partnership. He develops and leads the bespoke QI primary care programme across six London CCGs.

Through GenerationQ, Mike is looking to construct a central database of QI projects within Newham, to help colleagues present and publish their work, and to promote participation in research: ‘Excellent work on patient safety, telemedicine and use of mobile apps has been undertaken by different groups in Newham. By promoting co-design of QI projects with the wider health community, I would hope the buzz could be propagated not only by the practices and health services, but also by the patient population we serve.’

Mike is hoping that participation in GenerationQ will provide him with the opportunity to build a network of support, communication and expertise, as well as learn about and evaluate his own leadership style: ‘I hope that in joining this fellowship and by learning from motivated, interested colleagues, the ability to help myself and others recognise their potential and improve themselves will become easier.’
