Long-Term Strategic Framework for Health and Social Care Workforce Planning Our response to Health Education England’s call for evidence
7 September 2021
Our response to Health Education England’s call for evidence on its Long-Term Strategic Framework for Health and Social Care Workforce Planning.
Workforce issues were the single biggest challenge in health and social care, even before the COVID-19 pandemic.
Over the next 15 years, many factors will influence the delivery of health and social care and the health care workforce. Our submission draws on our expertise in improvement approaches to enable change in health care delivery, and our analysis of the workforce policy implications of several key factors:
- people’s changing health and care needs
- migration
- person-centred care
- health inequalities
- climate change
- the potential impact of AI and automation
- the use of technology to improve the quality of work for health and social care staff
- pandemic recovery
- workforce and skill mix
- designing pathways and ways of working to get the most out of digital technology.
